In this day and age it is not my credentials that will mean anything for your success. Ultimately, my experiences and personal convictions have no role to play in the success of landing a job as a mechanical engineer. What I can guarantee though, is that
- I will give you insight into industry as a mentor, as someone that has seen the system and knows how to position oneself to increase the changes of landing a job.
- I will give you tools that you can take with you from this job search into the next, regardless of the industry that you choose to go into. You will leave MECA practically improved.
The success of this program for you depends on your own implementation of the tools and perspectives given to you.
I have a master’s degree in mechanical engineering, specialising in Thermodynamics.
I worked as a mechanical engineering consultant for 3 years, focusing on structural integrity. This included 3D CAD modelling, FEA analyses, Root Cause of Failure Analyses and working from first principles in many different intricate projects.
I completed extensive on the job training for CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) simulations, and was a lecturer for final year students in Fluid Mechanics at an ECSA accredited tertiary institution, where I created an integrating module in the preparation of technical reports ensuring integration of new knowledge in practical, industry-ready ways.
I worked as a business analyst for a start-up telecoms company, basically channeling my inner industrial engineer.
In each of the roles that I filled, I made sure to learn the pitfalls of each role, of the management of each role and of the preparation of people for these roles. I let that inform the programs, insights and convictions that govern how MECA is conducted, and how your own program will be tailored to you specifically.
